'Coast to Coast' was a band that 'David Fahy' joined when he left 'XL'. Their bass player was 'Anthony Kelly'. As we were still friends with Dave, we used to go and see each others gigs. That's how we got to know Anthony.

When 'Steve Smith' left the band, we invited Anthony to audition for Excel. I thought he was an arrogant tosser and didn't want him in the band, but Alan and Richard out-voted me. However, once he joined Excel and we got to know each other, Anthony and I got on really well - and are still best friends today, nearly thirty years on! Ironically, Anthony and I went on to sack Alan and Richard. Armed Forces was the only band born out of the ashes of Excel. Originally, it consisted of Anthony, Richard and myself.
