The story was that POLYDOR RECORDS wanted this as the first single from the album, to follow the success of the "GOING UNDERGROUND" single, but the band wanted "START !" as the first single, and won in the end, "PRETTY GREEN" was never released as a single, but here is a 7" acetate of the said song, and also a different mix, much tougher, with PAUL WELLER's vocals more up in the mix, and without the sound affects that where used on the album version.
