Skidmarx.................. This band of misfits were the real deal!

Hailing from Carlisle up in Cumbria they formed in 1977 and established themselves as the top act in the area. The early line-up consisted of three vocalists Jim Rutherford, Tam Davidson and Bob Martin with Mick Clark on guitar, Tony Brown on bass and Nick Powell on drums. In early August of 77, Clark, Brown and Powell were replaced by Trevor Leighton on guitar, Ernest Lewandowski on bass and Chris Dickinson on drums.

This line-up lasted a few more months before the band realised that they had out grown Carlisle and the big smoke beckoned. So the band relocated down south in early 1978 as a four piece after recruiting new vocalist 'Mikey Timmons.

In the bands short existence, they did venture into two recording studios to lay down 14 tracks. Twelve tracks were recorded at the 'Selkirk Studio' in Selkirk in Scotland and two tracks were recorded at the 'Gooseberry Studios' in China Town, London. Some of the tracks that were recorded were 'Life's a Farce', 'Blue Movies', 'World of Fantasy', 'No Way' & 'Sunday Punk'.

With this new line up, the band played their hearts out and slogged their way around the London and South of England  gig circuit. Their biggest reward was when they got the support slot to "X-Ray Spex" at the Croydon Greyhound on 16th of April 1978. The band went down a storm at this gig and bigger and better things should of followed.

Sadly this wasn't to be and the band split...

The singer Mikey Timmons was offered the vocals duties in Brighton's 'XL5'.

Chris Dickinson moved back to Carlisle.

Ernest Lewandowski emigrated to Indonesia and runs a diving school.

Trevor Leighton stayed on London and is now a highly respected photographer working for many of the top glossy magazines that include 'Vogue', 'Tatler', 'Marie Claire' etc.
