The above two pictures are of the original line up of 'The Varicose Veins' and were taken in 1978. Please note, the dog "Judy" was not an actual member but was owned by "Jimmy Staunch' (R.I.P.) who was a very good friend of the band.

After the release of the debut single, the band ventured into small recording studio in Neal Street near the 'Roxy Club" that was set up by their manager, "Lenny' of the time. They recorded several more tracks and rumour has it that one of these tracks was called "Blue A40". This track along with the other recorded tracks were sent to "Stiff Records" to see if they were interested in signing the band. After a few weeks, they got a standard letter back saying no luck this time but send in more songs in the future.

The song apparently got changed and ended up being "2-4-6-8 Motorway" and was released by the "Tom Robinson Band".

True or false?

The above little bit of trivia came from 'David Bebb', son of 'Wayne Bebb' (Wayne Shaft)

When the band split, they shortened their name to 'The Veins', then changed it to 'Orange Disaster', then 'The Architects Of Disaster' before settling on 'The Perfect Disaster'.

The above 3-Track demo tape was sent into the "Bridge House", Canning Town in 1980 to try and secure some gigs at this venue!

Thanks to PJ Holmes for the above three pictures.

The above photo is of "Architects Of Disaster" as the band went
through many name changes but with all the word 'Disaster' in the title.

Tony and Paul went on to form Fields Of The Nephilim
