Mean Street were a band that appeared at many a venue during the punk explosion of 1977. Originally called Heroin (and occasionally Stiletto or Riot) they were fronted by former B-Sides singer Jeremy Harrington, with Chris Gorgier on guitar and a solid rhythm unit of Gary Webb on bass and Kenny Bishop on drums.
After a few gigs Gary left the fold in early June 77 and the remaining members continued as a three piece outfit with Jeremy taking on bass duties. They claimed their 2.45m of fame on the "Live At The Vortex" album (and flipside of the spin off split single with The Wasps) with the track "Bunch Of Stiffs".
After almost a year of slogging the circuit with no record deal in sight the band called it a day in May 1978. Jeremy joined the Monochrome Set after a short stint with Gloria Mundi, whilst Chris and Kenny form a new group called Action Replay.
Gary Webb later changed his name to Gary Numan (via Valerian) and launched Tubeway Army and I think you all know how that turned out!
