I did send a letter to the address on the back of the sleeve but never heard back. In some cases, parents still live at an old address that is given. |
The address was probably Avelon Road ? ( I've got a copy of the record somewhere but can't put my hands on it at the moment). We then moved somewhere else in Rainham so we were probably gone by the time you wrote. You probably know more about the record than I do and I can't remember the sleeve you mention but there is another with a group of sailors in Nelson style uniforms on the front. As I recall we each did a front cover and the back is the same for all ? I did the back with the listings etc then Wireless did the sailor cover, I did the one with the woman at the window that says stroke your pets often, Ant did the one with the geometric line drawings, Steve did the other one and I suppose Danish did the one you've mentioned but I don't recall it. This was over 20 years ago ! I'm surprised to hear there was a copy on e-bay, I suppose I should be aware of these things but I'm not. When I get a bit of time I'll try and send you some info-I'm dealing with 4 kids at the moment and I'm not usually at the computer this much. At the moment I do more listening than playing but just for fun me and one of the young 'uns have a thing called Birdlife UK on myspace. It's nothing like the Jelly Babies. Also my son Laurence has a group called Self Titled also on myspace. As far as influences go there weren't any musical ones- The fall were my favourite group but I think you'll agree we sound nothing like them. I was a massive swell Maps fan and maybe there's a bit of them in there but it was just to have fun really. The idea of making a record was definitely down to The Desperate Bicycles, though. Their self- financed record must have spurred many groups on and I think they are owed a large debt for showing how it could be done. I'll be in touch when I can. If you have any specific questions stick 'em in an e-mail and I'll get round to them when I can. |
