Re The Negatives from Manchester. I can confirm they never released an EP. That was a fabrication cooked up by Paul Morley and yours truly (I am ashamed to say). I can also confirm that Paul Morley and Kevin Cummings were Modest Young and Kevin Snap respectively. They played several gigs in Spring ‘77, usually supporting the Drones and other Manchester bands of the time and played the last night at the Electric Circus, by which time Steve Shy and Dave Bent had left and they were something like a 5 or 6 piece as I recall with Richard Boon (Buzzcocks manager) on saxophone. The set that night included a version of the Buzzcocks’ “16”.
