THE OUTSIDER
Essex

Niki 'Stitch' Berlin – Bass & Vocals  Steve Willis  – Guitar
Kevin Masters  – Keyoards

Lee Faust  – Drums

The band The Outsider (not to be confused with the Outsiders) flared briefly, but brightly, in Essex in the spring of 1979. We named the band after the Albert Camus novel 'L’Étranger' ('The Stranger', often translated into English as 'The Outsider'). This was an 'hommage' to The Fall who were similarly named after a Camus novel.

Complete gig list (all 1979):

March 26th - Zero Six, Southend

April 25th - Double Six, Basildon

May 13th - The Rock Club, Chelmsford

Notable songs:

'Hong Kong Baby' (chorus: You're so... / Hong Kong baby! / You're so... / Chinese lady! / You're so... / Japanese maybe? / You're so... Oriental! /)

Niki & Lee went on to play in The Orange Cardigan. Niki also played in They Should Have Died Years Ago.
