The psychopaths

Southend-On-Sea, Essex

Formed in 1978 in Southend-On-Sea, the Psychopaths, aka the Psychos, began by playing their local Eastwood High School for Boys, which attracted an audience of 500, albeit a captive one. There was a second show at the school before the band appeared at the Southend Rock Contest at 'Shrimpers' in 1978, where a mini riot ensued when the band lost. Thereafter they became regulars at a host of local venues 'Focus', 'The Esplanade' & 'Scamps' to name a few. They even ended up playing a benefit gig for the Southend Punk fanzine 'Strange Stories'.
