The Unexplained (Southgate, North London). Lineup: Brian Kotz - Betteridge (later to join Back To Zero), Vocals, Mervyn Lovatt, (Guitars) Jeff Oberman (drums), Leigh Tarrant (Bass).
Genre : New Wave/Psychedelic. Formed 1977. By mid 1978 Brian left to join Mod band Back to Zero, and local keyboard player Dave Field joined as new keyboard player/ vocalist.
No record deal. Demo's made at Fair Deal recording studios, Elephant & Castle 1978.
Songs on Demo : Endless Night. Quick Riverbank. Painted Lady. Freedom.
Notable regular pub appearances were: Duke Of Lancaster in Barnet. Moonlight Club in Hampstead. Middlx Poly Trent Park.
Band disbanded by late 1979.
Band noted for fledgling lead singer Brian Kotz (Betteridge) who was a good school friend of Leigh Tarrant. Brian fronted popular Mod band Back to Zero for their early appearances in 1979. Sometime in 1980 he was replaced.
The Unexplained changed their name towards the end of their tenure to be known as Zoe and the Hush Puppies. A few gigs followed at Londons Moonlight club and Tunnel club. The lineup for the short lived Zoe & the Hush Puppies was :
