I must commend your effort with the site and also the fact
you have taken the trouble to write.
A labour of love I bet!
Anyway the amazing thing is that the people my mum sold the
house to, still lived there and they tracked down my
mums current address and forwarded the letter.
So geNocidE has its place in punk history and I am delighted
you have made it happen. Although 50 this year it seems like
yesterday that me and the missus were sat in Rehearsal Rehearsal
talkin with Joe Paul and Topper.
There was a right close knit lot of us in Newcastle back
then as the place was still a rock and mainstream city.
London was a safe haven for 5 or 6 trips a year for clothes
and music - Beaufort Market, Kensington Market R.I.P.
If you were in it say mid 76 to probably 78 then it was the
only thing to do.
Me and the wife (of nearly 30 years) were more like the
Bromley Contingent - avant-garde, Bowiephile, Northern Soul.
It was an eclectic mix early days until the Clash tore my
life apart on the White Riot tour in 77.
Even in Dec 78 we saw them for our honeymoon night.
My style was definitely avant-garde/Clash City Rocker at the
time.
After that it quickly became 'postcard punks' and the
intelligentsia moved on yet again.
I hope my words bring some of my passion to you and I tell
you what - a tear to my eye as I think back!
