KT BUSH BAND |
The Sex Pistols were not the only act signed by EMI in 1976 that would affect music history. Eighteen year old Kate had also signed with the label but before she could record it was decided she needed to obtain some live experience on the pub circuit. Even though it was the summer of punk this band were not punk or new wave but more rock featuring a set list of cover versions of Honky Tonk Women, Brooklyn, She's Gone, Come Together, Sweet Soul Music and Nutbush City Limits as well as a handful of early originals in the shape of James And The Cold Gun, Them Heavy People and The Saxophone Song. Between March and June they played around twenty gigs in and around the capital, then once they had performed at a showcase for EMI at the White Elephant Club in Mayfair it was decided that Kate was ready to take the next step on the ladder and so in August 1977 she started work on her debut album "The Kick Inside"......punk had broken down the barriers, now anything was possible. |
