We took nine coaches to the Anti-Nazi gig in London 1978, but we had just one full of Punks. We stopped in this guys bed sit near the Uni the night before so we wouldn't miss the coach which set off at 5 in the morning.

30  Punks stopped in this bed-sit, there were 6 in the bed people asleep in the wardrobe, cupboards any where they could find a space. When we got to London most people walked to the park we got the tube because we wanted to see the X-Rray Spex.

We managed to get there just in time.

I have never seen so many people in my life. After the Clash and Jimmy Pursey we had to make our way back to to Trafalgar Square for the coach home. When we got outside the park there were loads of skinheads walking around looking for trouble. We had a bit of a ruck with a group of them and managed to chase them off. This was nothing to us as were were used to standing up for each other as we had plenty of experience fighting the Teds in Bradford. We were a very multi cultural bunch with many nationalities, who all got on . Not like Bradford today, its more segregated now then ever.
