THE MAKING OF THE "FIRST" ISSUE OF THE

PICTURE SLEEVE

Here is the original mock up artwork for the first issue of  the sleeve.

It was made by vocalist Nick Name in 1977/78.

The sleeve is made up on one piece of paper measuring 14" x 7" inches, when folded this made up the 7" original sleeve, the sleeve itself was made up by nick name in 1977 / 78. Most of the text came from the 'Daily Mirror' & the 'Sun' but the bits about legal action were from a court form when they had some trouble from the police in 77/78 and the other bits of text from a gig review.. Over this collage of cuttings he pasted the white paper cut-outs to make the bands name, tracks etc stand out.

The text, made up separately on 2 pieces of clear plastic was then put over the white area so as to highlight the bands name, song titles etc, These were then printed up as the sleeves.. Sadly some of the original text that was on these plastic pieces has disappeared over the last 28 years.

Picture 1 shows the front of the original sleeve

Picture 2 shows the text affixed to the plastic which was placed over the front of the sleeve before they were printed

Picture 3 shows the text that was used on the back of the sleeve

Picture 4 shows the original text but this time i have photocopied an original sleeve, cut out some of the text and added the missing relevant bits...
